Imogen* had been sofa-surfing with family and friends. She was keen to find her own stable home to live in, as her relationship with her parents was becoming strained, and the space would allow this relationship to improve. For Imogen, the temporary hostel accommodation that she’d been offered was not a viable option, as she was recovering from a serious lapse with addiction. She was receiving professional help, and the hostel environment could have been detrimental to her recovery.
To help with the cost of accessing private accommodation, Imogen’s support worker at Housing Rights applied for a VRF grant on her behalf. With this grant, she was able to move into a flat of her own, where she could focus on her next chapter.
