Brian* faced homelessness after his father died, as he struggled to deal with the grief. A Vicar’s Relief Fund grant meant he was able to stay in his home.

When Brian*’s father was diagnosed with a terminal illness, he took some time off work to look after him. After his Father sadly passed away, he was struggling with the grief, while also managing his Father’s affairs. Because of this, he fell behind on rent.

Brian’s landlord issued an eviction notice due to the rent arrears, and he was faced with homelessness. However, his support worker was able to apply for a grant from the Vicar’s Relief Fund (VRF) to clear his arrears, which prevented Brian from being evicted. He was able to stay in his home, where he could continue to work on processing his grief. The VRF grant he received gave Brian the opportunity to avoid the additional turmoil of homelessness, in what was already an incredibly difficult time. Thank you to all of our donors who make this happen for many people like Brian.
