In the BBC Radio 4 Christmas Appeal last December, we heard Jo’s story. For years, Jo had worked hard to provide for herself and her family. But when the pandemic affected her successful business, she lost her income and then her home. Jo spent two years driving between friends and family members and at her lowest point she lived in her car for three months.

A grant from our Vicar’s Relief Fund (VRF) changed everything for her as it got her the deposit to her own little home where she could rebuild her life, have her family come and stay and focus on the future.

In this year’s newsletter, Together, which outlines not only the impact the support of you, our donor, is having, but other ways you could further support our work through monthly donations or gifts in Wills – you can also read our recent catch up with Jo and hear how her life has been transformed. We hope you will find it an interesting and inspirational read!

Jo has also recorded a short thank you message to everyone who donated to St Martin’s Charity last Christmas as you have changed her life and thousands of other lives with your kindness.

The work of St Martin’s Charity is crucial, and with homelessness rising and services under real pressure, it is needed more than ever. Last year the Charity directly helped over 8,000 people into accommodation and away from homelessness or to prevent their eviction through our VRF grants programme. And sadly, we expect to be as busy this year.

Your support on the frontline

Your support on the frontline

With your help, we support a wide range of professionals who work directly with people experiencing homelessness. We fund training and resources, so that they can share their expertise with each other. With your ongoing support, we can continue to fund the vital work of frontline workers.

“I can see that donations are helping to put roofs over people’s heads and giving them hope of a better future.”
