We exist so that everyone has a safe place to call home.

St Martin-in-the-Fields Charity is a UK-wide homelessness charity.

We work to prevent homelessness from happening in the first place. However, when it does happen, we help people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness receive the best possible support and to find and keep a safe place to live.

Here’s how we do it.

There are three main ways that we work to acheive our goal; providing funding for individuals and organisations, supporting frontline homelessness workers and advocating for change.

How we prevent homelessless:

Helping people

We provide fast emergency grants of up to £500 through our Vicar’s Relief Fund. The VRF offers grants for those at immediate risk of becoming homeless or those who urgently needing housing. The money helps people into safety by contributing to costs such as rent deposits, or to stay in their home by covering rent arrears.

Funding services

Our larger grants fund unique and essential projects from organisations that offer people experiencing homelessness safe housing and support services. We carefully award these grants by learning from frontline workers to support promising initiatives addressing the root causes and consequences of homelessness.

Supporting workers

Frontline workers are essential professionals who often work in challenging and stressful environments, facing many challenges and barriers. They play a vital role in connecting homeless people with other services and resources that can help them find and keep a home.  This is why we collaborate with frontline workers to ensure that people experiencing homelessness can access the best available support.
