Jonathan* had been sofa-surfing with friends, but had to leave as there was not enough space.

His multiple health conditions mean that he often has difficulty with daily tasks, and therefore his only income is benefits. On such a low income, it is difficult to save up enough money for the deposit and rent in advance that is so often needed to secure a new property.

That’s where the Vicar’s Relief Fund came in. Jonathan’s support worker was able to apply for a grant to help him to secure a property. He is now living in his own ground-floor flat, suited to his needs. The private accommodation also means that Jonathan’s children are able to visit him much more frequently.
